Victorian public holidays for bloggers, building promotional programs

The lead up to a public holiday is fundamental to businesses who want to promote themselves online. Many of our clients have business blogs, just like we do HERE!

To simply “sell things” or “promote stuff” whenever you feel like it, when you have time, when it comes into your mind, is not a strategy.  That’s marketing by default, and it is a waste of time overall.

CASE STUDY

One of our top clients is in the “online flower sales business”, and Valentines Day is one of their biggest days, every year.  But this year, for the first time, they did a 14 day lead up to the special day (weekend), with a social media campaign, not just a Facebook campaign (they did use Facebook) but they also utilised Twitter, Instagram & Pinterest – The prize was a low Store Digital Gift Voucher $200.  They also did 2 runner ups of $50 Gift Vouchers.

This campaign had a massive success.  

1. They increased their social FANS by around 35% across the board, with LIKES, SHARES, FOLLOWS etc.

2. Their retargeting lists grew overnight by 500% – remember people who LIKE your Facebook don’t hit your website retargeting campaigns, so this comp took care of that loophole.

3. AND their email list grew by 400%.

As you can imagine, when their total investment cost of the competition consisting of $350 in gift vouchers and their social media ad spend on Facebook & Twitter, amounted to a gross total of no more than $2,000.

Based on the previous years, they had a 28% growth in unexpected sales, this amounted to a huge ROI, many times over, they got their money back.

PLANNING

This was not a last minute “what should we do here”campaign.  We were strategising the launch, the banner ads they would use, including animated GIFS, for 3mths prior to the launch date.  This was by no means a small campaign, but the results for the business has been a game changer for them.  Obviously they are keen to see Mother’s Day!
